Close Quarters Battle (CQB) Instructor Course
50 hrs TCOLE #6014
The RDI 5-day course is designed to prepare instructors to teach Close Quarters Battle (CQB) techniques and principles across the full spectrum of law enforcement applications. With CQB traditionally divided between patrol operations and tactical team engagements, this course bridges the gap by providing instruction relevant to both. Participants will develop the skills to teach CQB at all levels, from cadet training to advanced tactical team operations, ensuring a cohesive and adaptable approach to instruction.
Day 1: Methodology of Teaching CQB and CQB Fundamentals
Participants will learn how to structure and deliver CQB instruction for diverse audiences, including cadets, patrol officers, and tactical operators. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of CQB, training planning, instructional techniques, and understanding adult learning principles to maximize clarity and engagement in training.
Days 2-4: CQB Concepts and Principles
These intensive days cover the core elements of CQB, including team movement, room entry techniques, threat identification, and situational decision-making. Participants will practice and refine techniques applicable to both patrol-level responses and tactical team operations, ensuring versatility in their teaching repertoire.
Day 5: Teach Backs and Guided Discussions
The final day focuses on participant-led teach-backs, where trainees demonstrate their ability to instruct CQB concepts effectively for varying law enforcement roles. Guided discussions will address challenges and reinforce best practices for teaching across the patrol-to-tactical spectrum.
By the end of this course, participants will be equipped to effectively teach CQB at all levels of law enforcement. They will combine tactical expertise with advanced instructional techniques, fostering a unified approach to CQB training that prepares officers for real-world scenarios.
